Près de dix ans de gestation, trente minutes de musique, et un homme seul derrière la batterie, la basse et les claviers. Sur Proud of Me, Adrian Younge pose les fondations ; la voix hors du temps d'ALA.NI y raconte l'amour, l'attente et le deuil. Une leçon d'économie, côté grave comme côté chant.
Tout commence en 2018, presque par hasard : l'éditeur d'ALA.NI organise une session à Los Angeles avec Adrian Younge. La méthode s'installe vite. Le jour, Younge construit les instrumentaux dans son studio ; le soir, la chanteuse écrit des paroles d'après l'humeur des morceaux ; le lendemain, elle enregistre. Cinq chansons naissent la première semaine.
Une seconde session, en 2020, juste avant la pandémie, complète la seconde moitié du disque. Younge y ajoute ensuite de larges arrangements de cordes aux Linear Labs Studios. Entre-temps, la vie d'ALA.NI a basculé : le morceau-titre, premier écrit pour l'album, est né quand elle a appris le cancer de son père, et une grande partie du travail s'est faite dans les semaines qui ont suivi sa disparition. D'où ce ton de journal intime, sans fard, qui traverse les dix titres.
Le disque est sorti le 9 octobre 2026 sur Linear Labs, le label de Younge, en vinyle, CD et numérique.
